Highest Thermal Efficiency
Close temperature approach and maximum heat recovery from corrugated plate design.
Ultra-Compact Design
Up to 5× smaller footprint vs. shell-and-tube; easy to service and maintain.
Maximum Uptime
Less fouling, stress, wear and corrosion — engineered for continuous operation.
Fully Flexible Duty
Add or remove plates to adapt instantly to changed process requirements.
Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers — Engineered for Excellence
Gasketed plate heat exchangers optimize heat transfer through large surfaces of precision-corrugated plates, drawing thermal energy from one fluid stream to another with industry-leading efficiency. The high-turbulence channel geometry not only maximizes the overall heat-transfer coefficient but also significantly reduces fouling rates, keeping the unit productive for longer.
The result: an investment offering the most attractive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over the full product lifetime. Combined with Alfa Laval's energy-saving capabilities, you get lower operating costs and a minimal environmental footprint — backed by R S Industrial's expert commissioning, genuine gaskets, and periodic service audits.
High Heat Recovery
Corrugated plate geometry creates intense turbulence, delivering heat-transfer coefficients 3–5× higher than shell-and-tube designs.
Compact Footprint
Requires up to 80% less floor space. Easy to open, inspect, and clean — minimising maintenance downtime.
Energy & Cost Savings
Close temperature approach enables maximum heat recovery, cutting energy bills and reducing the plant's carbon footprint.
Scalable by Design
Add or remove plate packs to instantly adapt capacity as production volumes change — zero capital expenditure on a new unit.
Durable & Reliable
Premium stainless steel plates (AISI 304 / 316L) and EPDM, NBR, or high-temp HNBR gaskets for maximum chemical compatibility.
Hygienic Options
Fully cleanable-in-place (CIP) hygienic models meeting 3-A and EHEDG standards for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical lines.

How a Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger Works
A Gasketed Plate-and-Frame Heat Exchanger transfers heat between two fluid streams without mixing them. Precision-pressed, corrugated metal plates are clamped together in a frame, with rubber gaskets sealing each channel and directing the fluids into alternating hot and cold passes.
Fluid Entry
Hot and cold process fluids enter through the port connections and are directed into alternating channels by the gasket geometry.
Counter-Current Flow
Fluids flow in opposite directions (counter-current) between corrugated plates, creating the smallest possible temperature difference.
High-Turbulence Transfer
The chevron-pattern corrugations generate intense turbulence, maximising the heat-transfer coefficient and minimising fouling.
Fluid Exit
Thermally exchanged fluids exit through separate outlet ports — completely isolated, no cross-contamination, ready for next process stage.
Why Corrugated Plates Make a Difference
The precisely engineered chevron corrugation angle (typically 30°–65°) controls the balance between thermal performance and pressure drop. Higher angles produce greater turbulence and heat transfer; shallower angles reduce pressure drop for viscous or sensitive fluids. Alfa Laval optimises this geometry for every application — so you always get the ideal balance of efficiency and operating cost.
